ABSTRACT
Abstract. Headaches are the most common reason for seeking medical attention worldwide. Many patients with this condition refer themselves or are referred by other specialists to otolaryngologists, as they often associate headache with inflammation or other processes in the nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses. However, differential diagnosis of rhinogenic and non-rhinogenic headaches is a complex and routine task faced by physicians of various specialties. Given the high prevalence of headaches among adults and children, diagnosis and treatment of these clinical conditions should be carried out in close consultation with a neurologist, especially if the headache is chronic. The lack of a standardized approach to describing symptoms leads to problems in the diagnosis and treatment of rhinogenic headaches. Objective. To review studies containing data on the prevalence of rhinogenic headaches among children and adolescents, to deepen our current understanding of etiology and differential diagnosis, and to update information on modern approaches to the conservative and surgical treatment of rhinogenic headaches in children.
