ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to improve the effectiveness of the treatment of patients with chronic otitis media with epidermization. The authors have developed a new ventilation method of the newly created tympanum with severe persistent dysfunction of the auditory tube under which the air from the external auditory canal enters the tympanic cavity in portions, bypassing the auditory tube, in which the pressure decreases. This method is applied in 22 patients with complete or partial tympanum epidermization. The article presents the options for using the developed technique, depending on the degree of preservation of soundconducting system of the middle ear. It has been pointed out that the creation of the tympanic cavity conditions, similar to the healthy ear, provides more rapid recovery of the mucous membrane in the places without mucous membrane, thus significantly reducing the risk of recurrent imperforation of tympanic cavity.
