ABSTRACT
One of the most difficult and urgent problems of the present-day surgery is the treatment of patients with neck injuries. Massive hemorrhage, asphyxia, air embolism caused by the damage of the great neck vessels; the combined injuries of hollow organs determine the progressive destabilization of the vital functions of organism, the condition severity and high mortality of this category of patients. This article presents a review of the literature dedicated to diagnostics and treatment of neck injuries. The review highlights such issues as the history of the development of views on the neck injuries, epidemiology, classification, diagnostics and treatment.
