ABSTRACT
The recovery of ill children which had previously been considered incurable, became possible in the recent years due to the achievements of intensive-care medicine, in particular, the prolonged artificial pulmonary ventilation. As a result, there has been observed the increase in the number of patients with cicatricial stenosis of the larynx, acquired in the perinatal period. For a long period the surgical treatment by means of open laryngotracheal plastics was the method of choice in the treatment of cicatricial stenoses. A significant development of technologies in endoscopic and minimally invasive surgery allowed the use of balloon dilatation for treatment of immature and unexpressed postintubation respiratory tract stenoses. The objective of the study was to analyze the specific features of the patients with cicatricial stenosis of the larynx acquired in the perinatal period, and to study and characterize the specific features of balloon dilatation in this disease.
