ABSTRACT
The paper presents the results of study of the interrelations between the clinical features and psychological changes in patients with various forms of chronic tonsillitis. Healthy subjects participated in the study as a control group. To reveal the psychological characteristics, the authors used Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale, the “type of attitude towards the disease” (TATD) test. Based on MMPI, the authors revealed significant differences between the patients with chronic tonsillitis and healthy subjects, as well as the differences between individual forms of chronic tonsillitis. The work presents the effect of regular conservative treatment of patients with chronic tonsillitis on MMPI results. Chronic tonsillitis does not affect the indicators of situational and personal anxiety and the depression level. The prevailing type of attitude towards the disease in the patients with chronic tonsillitis is the euphoric one.
