ABSTRACT
It is known that the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity undergoes regular age-related changes, which can be aggravated by various factors, including occupational hazards, drug-induced rhinitis, etc. In the preservation and maintenance of the structure of the epithelium of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, irrigation therapy with sea water occupies a special place. Available means of irrigation therapy are intranasal sprays containing a solution of sea water rationalized in composition and osmotic concentration. Washing the nasal cavity, called in many literary sources «nasal douching,» provides an adequate functional state of the mucous membrane of the airways due to the complex composition of trace elements of sea water. This type of therapy is included in the clinical standards for the complex treatment of a diverse range of diseases of the upper respiratory tract, accompanied by various forms of rhinitis or its symptoms, and can be considered as a method of preventing aging of the nasal mucosa. The article discusses and substantiates the prospects for the prevention of aging of the nasal epithelium, the possibility of maintaining an adequate morpho-functional status of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity with sea water solutions.
