ABSTRACT
Two inflammatory processes occurring in parallel in the lymphoid apparatus of the pharynx and abdominal cavity have long attracted the attention of specialists in various fields. The relationship of these processes, according to many researchers, is due to the topographic and anatomical unity of the pharynx and abdominal organs. The question of the influence of the pathology of the palatine tonsils on the development of acute appendicitis remains little studied. There are no clear diagnostic criteria to determine the mechanisms of interaction between various parts of humoral immunity in the formation of associated diseases of the lymphoid apparatus of the pharynx and abdominal cavity. The percentage of unjustified appendectomies with catarrhal inflammation of the appendix in patients with chronic tonsillitis remains high, while destructive forms of inflammation in this group of patients are practically not observed. The article presents an analysis of the clinical-endoscopic and clinical-morphological data obtained during the study of postoperative material of 62 patients aged 18 years who were operated on for acute appendicitis at the Kruglaya Research and Clinical Multidisciplinary Center for Medical Care for Mothers and Children in Orel. It was found that patients suffering from chronic tonsillitis had catarrhal changes characteristic of reactive inflammation of the appendix, while in the absence of tonsillar pathology inflammation of the appendix tends to turn into destructive forms.
