ABSTRACT
Foreign bodies of the ENT organs are one of the most common reasons for visiting an ENT doctor, including referrals for inpatient treatment. The problem of injuries to the head and neck, despite peacetime, is due to the growth of the criminal situation, the availability of traumatic means of self-defense and, at times, their unreasonably frequent use. Bullet wounds of ENT organs are often accompanied by various complications: heavy bleeding; damage to the orbit, pterygopalatine fossa, base of the skull; contusion symptoms and manifestations of shock. Modern technical solutions in otorhinolaryngology, which undoubtedly are navigation systems, allow determining the location of foreign bodies in the head and neck area with an accuracy of up to a millimeter, which is often the only way to safely remove them. The article considers an example of successful removal of a foreign body of the skull base area (metal bullet) in a 27-year-old patient using video endoscopic equipment and navigation system.
