ABSTRACT
The article describes clinical cases of damage to the tympanic cavity in the form of dermoid cysts with extratympanic extension. The anamnesis data and patient treatment methods at the prehospital stage and their complaints are detailed; X-ray examination methods’ outcomes of patients before and after their surgical treatment are provided, and the auditory function is evaluated. Surgical treatment and postoperative management of each patient are described. The surgical tactics for total excision of the neoplasm for the purpose of the tympanic cavity’s sanitation, restoration of the sound transmitting mechanism of the middle ear, and the prevention of disease relapse were determined. They were based on the outcomes of previous surgical interventions, localization and extent of dermoid, the presence of destructive changes in the temporal bone and adjacent anatomical and topographic structures.
