ABSTRACT
Abstract. Objective. To identify the effectiveness of using a probiotic in the complex treatment of children with chronic adenoiditis. Patients and methods. The study involved 140 patients aged 3 to 12 years for the period 2020–2023. All patients underwent diagnostics of nasopharyngeal microbiota by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Patients were divided into 2 groups, the main study group and the control group. The main group received complex treatment of chronic adenoiditis using a probiotic in the form of chewable tablets. The control group received complex treatment of CA based on the clinical guidelines „Adenoid hypertrophy. Hypertrophy of the palatine tonsils“. Results. The state of the nasopharyngeal microbiota in chronic adenoiditis in children plays an important role. The basis of the state of dysbiosis according to the results of the study after treatment in the observation groups is a decrease in the total microbial count as well as an imbalance of transient and pathogenic flora. However, in the main group where the treatment includes taking a probiotic after the course of treatment a variety of microflora is noted compared with the control group. Conclusion. Treatment of children with chronic adenoiditis with a probiotic does not reduce the duration of exacerbation but increases the duration of remission. Thus, the use of probiotics as an adjuvant therapy has a positive result, which consists in improving the effect of conservative therapy as well as reducing the number of exacerbations and prolonging the period of remission.
