ABSTRACT
Abstract. Background. Chronic paralytic laryngeal stenosis is a rare but clinically significant pathology characterized by persistent impaired mobility of the vocal folds and leading to significant impairment of respiratory and vocal functions. Due to the increasing incidence of this pathology, there remains a need to improve treatment methods, including through the use of high-tech equipment. The introduction of laser systems has opened up opportunities for gentle resection of laryngeal tissues; however, the optimal choice of laser radiation wavelength remains the subject of research. Objective. To experimentally compare the parameters of the effects of 445 nm and 980 nm semiconductor lasers on laryngeal tissue. Materials and methods. The work was performed ex vivo on ram vocal folds and in vivo on rabbit vocal folds. The depth and length of ablation, the severity of thermal damage, and the histological structure of tissues after laser exposure were evaluated. Results. The 445 nm laser was shown to have a gentler effect on laryngeal tissues with a lower depth of thermal damage compared to the 980 nm laser. Conversely, the 980 nm laser demonstrated higher ablative properties but is characterized by greater thermal damage compared to the 445 nm laser. Conclusion. The results obtained make it possible to substantiate the expediency of differentiated use of lasers of different radiation spectra in the surgical treatment of patients with chronic paralytic laryngeal stenosis.
