ABSTRACT
Paranasal sinusitises rank number one among the diseases of ENT organs, and the number thereof is increasing. The issue of reasonable antibacterial therapy of sinusitises remains acute. Objective: to evaluate the efficiency of use of the protected aminopenicillins via the example of sultamicillin in treatment of patients with acute maxillary sinusitises. Patients and methods: 48 patients with acute maxillary sinusitises of light and moderate severity have been examined. Sultamicillin antibacterial therapy had been conducted during 10 days orally, by 750 mg/days. The punctures of maxillary sinuses were excluded at local action. Efficiency of the treatment was estimated based on clinical manifestations on the 1st, 4th and 10th days of supervision. Results: efficiency of acute maxillary sinusitises sultamicilin treatment constituted 89.6% by the 10th day of supervision. Conclusion: protected aminopenicillin prescription for empirical antibiotic therapy of patients with acute maxillary sinusitis with mild and moderate course of disease is reasonable; sultamicellin is an efficient and safe medication.
