ABSTRACT
The authors analyzed the specific features of external nose defects of various etiologies and studied the demographic characteristics of the patients, clinical parameters of the defects and the specific features of reparatory activities. Materials: 217 patients with the acquired defects of the external nose: excision of malignant tumors – 161 patients, radiation treatment of malignant tumors – 6 patients, traumas – 18 patients, excision of benign tumors – 29 patients, other etiology – 3 patients. Female patients predominated in oncologic group, male patients – in traumatized group. The average age of the patients with neoplasms was higher than that of traumatized patients. The size and depth of the defects after excision of malignant tumors and traumatic damage were greater, they more often included the subunits of the lower third of the nose and more often required reconstructive actions than the defects after the benign tumors excision.
