ABSTRACT
The authors studied 1036 outpatient medical records of patients with chronic tonsillitis (CT) and the results of bacteriological examination of their lacunar content, depending on concomitant gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The incidence of confirmed comorbidity was 17.8%. The following specific features of the lacunar microbiome in the patients with CT and concomitant GERD were identified: the obvious predominance of enteroflora (24% vs. 4.8% in the patients with isolated CT) with a significant predominance of Enterobacter cloacae in 50% of all enteroflora, Enterococcus – in 27%, E. Coli – in 16%, all resistant to the principal antibiotics; the predominance of mixed microflora, characteristic of the pharynx and gastrointestinal tract, over monoflora. Another peculiarity was the presence of Streptococci resistant to multiple antibiotics in 25% of all cultures: in particular, to Azithromycin and Clarithromycin in 40% of cases, to Levofloxacin and Moxifloxacin, Clindamycin and Lincomycin – about 20%.
