ABSTRACT
The authors analyzed the hospital morbidity of ENT diseases in Otorhinolaryngology Department of N. A. Semashko Republican Clinical Hospital for the period 2014 to 2018. The data obtained indicate that the most common group among in-patients is patients with respiratory diseases, where the diseases of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses predominate. Rhinosinusitis, mostly chronic forms, were the factor of development of orbital and intracranial complications. The complicated forms of this disease were: the orbital form – 10.9%, the intracranial form – 1.2% of all identified cases of rhinosinusitis. According to the analysis, orbital complications prevailed. The predominant form was reactive edema of orbital fat and eyelid fat. The intracranial complications that caused admissions were rhinogenic meningitis and brain abscess. Conservative treatment for rhinogenic orbital complications is indicated under condition of good drainage of the sinuses involved in the inflammatory process, which is provided by the puncture method. The adverse outcome of complicated forms of rhinosinusitis is in most often associated with the delayed visit to the specialists. The solution to this problem will lead to a decrease in lethality in the treatment of rhinosinusitis. Among the regions of the Republic of Crimea, the largest number of patients with complicated forms of rhinosinusitis was observed in Krasnoperekopsk, Dzhankoy, Belogorsk, in Simferopol and Pervomaisk districts. Seasonality indicators did not significantly vary.
