ABSTRACT
Abstract. Introduction. To this day, chronic tonsillitis is considered an urgent research issue in otorhinolaryngological practice as it is characterized by a complex course and the risk of complications. Patients and methods. The paper conducted a clinical examination of 42 children with chronic tonsillitis of toxic-allergic form in the period 2020–2023. Depending on the type of treatment, the subjects were randomized into 2 groups: group 1 (first, n = 22) included children with CT who were prescribed conservative therapy; group 2 (second, n = 20) was similar to group 1, only treatment was operative. Clinical and laboratory methods were used in the study. Results. It has been established that in children the progression of chronic tonsillitis is characterized by endogenous intoxication, an imbalance of immune activity (proinflammatory hypersecretion, anti-inflammatory depression). It turned out that the use of drug therapy in this pathology is ineffective since homeostatic abnormalities persist until the end of the study. In patients of the first group, there was an increase in the level of endogenous intoxication (urea, creatinine) relative to the normal limit for the entire period (1–3–8 days) by 43.5–23.3 and 30.5–15.2% (p < 0.05), respectively; parameters (TNF and IL1) of the immune system, by 22.1–14.9 and 20.5–14.9 % (p < 0.05), respectively; and indicators (ALT, AST) of hepatic depression, by 89.5–54.2 and 162.1–45.8%, respectively. Earlier, surgical treatment turned out to be the best option in the treatment of chronic tonsillitis, which led to the restoration of the homeostasis system by the end of the observation period.
