ABSTRACT
Abstract. Objective. To study in experiment the influence of the piezoelectric device on the auditory analyzer, the possibility of developing sensorineural hearing loss during the formation of a trepanation cavity in the area of the skull bones of laboratory animals. Material and methods. The work was carried out on the basis of the vivarium of the Kuban State Medical University on rabbits: 10 individuals of the Soviet chinchilla breed. The animals were divided into two groups. In the first group, the rabbits were sedated to test hearing thresholds without surgical treatment. In another group, also under sedation, an open bone wound was simulated in the area of the occipital protuberances of the parietal region of a rabbit using a piezoelectric device and testing hearing thresholds. Before surgery and on the 10th day, in both groups of the study, short-latency auditory evoked potentials were recorded. The potentials were recorded sequentially binaurally in response to a click. Conclusion. Assessment of the results of hearing thresholds by brainstem auditory evoked response recordings did not reveal a negative effect on the function of the auditory analyzer when exposed to a piezoelectric device in the area of the bone structures of the skull in experimental animals according to data obtained from recording short-latency auditory evoked potentials. Design. Prospective pilot study.
