ABSTRACT
Resume. Introduction. About 90% of children with Down syndrome have various forms of hearing loss. In this regard, they require comprehensive hearing and speech rehabilitation, where adaptive sports occupy an important place and have a significant impact on the overall development of the child. Objective. To evaluate changes in the quality of life in children with Down syndrome combined with hearing impairment who are engaged in adaptive rhythmic gymnastics at various stages of rehabilitation. Materials and methods. The study involved 17 parents of children and 17 children with Down syndrome. The average age of the children was 6.5 years (4–15 years). The study assessed the dynamics of changes in quality of life using the SF-36 questionnaire in 17 children with Down syndrome combined with hearing loss after 6 months of regular attendance at adaptive rhythmic gymnastics classes. Results. According to the results of the study, positive dynamics were observed on all scales of the quality of life questionnaire in the direction of a shift in indicators to higher ones after 6 months of systematic training in adaptive rhythmic gymnastics. Conclusions. Thus, regular classes in adaptive gymnastics have a beneficial effect not only on the physical development of the child but also on other areas of life.
