ABSTRACT
Abstract. Introduction. The last decade has been characterized by an increase in interest in assessing the quality of life of patients. To assess the quality of life of patients, a nasal questionnaire was developed based on the existing SNOT-22 questionnaire, which includes, in addition to questions about the state of the ENT organs, questions about the state of sleep, post-COVID symptoms, and the general condition of the body. The questionnaire was also correlated with olfactometry data. Objective. To determine the effectiveness of a questionnaire based on the SNOT-22 and the correlation with olfactometry scores. Materials and methods. The study included 84 patients treated in the departments of otorhinolaryngology, pulmonology, allergology of Vishnevsky Republican Clinical Hospital No. 1 (Makhachkala, Republic of Dagestan). Results. The average score of the nasal questionnaire in the otolaryngology department was 48 points; in the pulmonology department, 32 points; in the allergology department, 52 points. During the olfactory tests, it was revealed that patients from the allergology department recognize odors much faster and better, and patients from the pulmonology department, the worst. The ENT department occupies an intermediate position between the allergology and pulmonology departments. The representatives of these departments recognized the smell of ammonia best of all, and the smell of cedar oil (etheric odor) worst of all. All data are statistically significant. Conclusions. The developed questionnaire demonstrated high rates in the allergology department, the ENT department was only slightly inferior, and the rates of the pulmonology department were quite low, which indicates less pronounced symptoms. Comparison of the questionnaire indicators with the results of olfactometry indicates the presence of a direct correlation between the data obtained, which is evidence of the effectiveness of the developed questionnaire.
