ABSTRACT
Abstract. Objective. To improve the voice quality in patients with organic pathology of the larynx combined with functional dysphonia in the postoperative period. Patients and methods. 360 patients operated on for benign organic pathology of the vocal folds were examined. The examination was conducted using videolaryngoscopy, videolaryngostroboscopy, computer acoustic voice analysis, subjective assessment of the voice function by a doctor (according to Yanagihara’s classification) and a patient (VHI-30: Voice Handicap Index-30). Voice therapy and biofeedback therapy were used as methods of voice restoration to teach patients the skill of diaphragmatic breathing and reduce neuromuscular tension. Results and discussion. In 58 patients, the voice was not restored in the postoperative period after the relief of inflammatory phenomena, which was due to the pathological type of phonation: nodular, hypotonic, hypertonic, and dysphonia with a normal laryngoscopic picture. Patients underwent voice restoration procedures: Group I: voice therapy, Group II: voice therapy and biofeedback therapy. In patients with hypertonic phonation, biofeedback therapy significantly accelerated voice restoration according to subjective and objective assessments. Biofeedback therapy did not have a significant effect on the restoration of voice function in patients with nodular, hypotonic phonation, and dysphonia with a normal laryngoscopic picture.
