Modern algorithm of diagnostics of the shape and apnoe sleep syndrome

ABSTRACT
The authors examined 118 patients of ENT clinic. Respiratory disorders were revealed in 88 people (74.6%). Three groups were distinguished: 1 – “uncomplicated snoring“, 2 – “mild obstructive sleep apnea syndrome“, 3 – “moderate and severe obstructive sleep apnea syndrome”. Night respiratory monitoring was performed in 42 people who had undergone a course of electric stimulation of the soft palate muscles. In group 1, snoring decreased by more than 7 times, and the number of respiratory cycles with flow-filtration decreased by 4 times. In group 2, apnea/hypopnea index significantly decreased. In 85.6% of patients in groups 1 and 2 (36 people), a transition from more severe to less severe stage and normal state was observed, where 20 people (46.7%) after treatment displayed the correspondence to normal respiration in sleep, 16 people (38%) moved from mild OSAS to the group with uncomplicated snoring. Six people (14.3%) had no positive dynamics. Electric stimulation of the soft palate muscles is an efficient non-surgical method of treatment of patients with uncomplicated snoring, preconditioned by the soft palate muscles hypotonia, and with mild OSAS.
